What is NAIC?

In short

NAIC is the body US state insurance regulators coordinate through, and the company number a provider shows links to its licensing details.

NAIC is the organisation US state insurance regulators work through. A NAIC number is a company identifier, so the one a provider gives you points back to its licensing details. Europ Assistance lists 11231, Liberty Mutual lists 23025, and The Hartford lists 19682. Compare it with the licence number a state issues in your own area, since a national identifier and a state licence are two different things.
