What is Autoriteit Financiele Markten (AFM)?
In short
The AFM is the Dutch financial regulator, and its register identifies each permitted insurance intermediary by licence number.
The Autoriteit Financiele Markten is the Dutch regulator for banks, investment firms and insurance intermediaries, and it keeps a register you can search yourself. Each permitted firm is listed with a licence number, which tells you whether the company selling you a policy is allowed to do so in the Netherlands. Pricewise Verzekeringen appears as 12017061 and Zilveren Kruis as 12001027. An intermediary may be licensed to advise rather than to underwrite, so the register entry shows where your claim would sit if something goes wrong.
