What is IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India)?
In short
IRDAI is the body that supervises insurance companies in India, and the licence number a provider quotes with it shows the firm is allowed to sell cover.
IRDAI is the regulator that oversees insurance companies in India. Every insurer has to register with it and hold a licence, so the number a provider gives you is a quick check that the firm may legally trade. Max Life Insurance lists its registration as 104 (ARN/Web/13122024), and Digit Insurance shows 158. FinClick, which brokers rather than underwrites, carries an ARN reference under the same regulator: ARN-248156.
